It confirms the signed-in account and applies deletion to the correct profile. If you cannot access the app, contact us from the email address associated with the account.
1. How to request deletion
- Open D8 and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Open Password & Security.
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm your current password. If your account uses Google sign-in only, enter the one-time code sent to your account email.
Password confirmation is locked after three incorrect attempts. Contact support if this happens.
A new code can be requested after 60 seconds. Code requests and verification attempts are each limited to two for that deletion request.
If that path is unavailable, email privacy@directhousing.app from your account email with the subject “D8 account deletion”. We may ask you to verify ownership. Never send your password or one-time code.
2. What is removed or anonymised
Once a valid deletion request is completed, the sign-in account is removed and the public profile is anonymised. Profile name is replaced with a generic deleted-user label, and profile contact details, biography, photographs, cover image and push token are removed.
Private convenience or settings data associated only with ongoing use is deleted, including active device sessions, saved and toured homes, linked payment-account setup held in D8, property and notification settings, delivered notifications, chat pin/mute/delete preferences and FAQ votes.
Some content already shared with another person, such as messages, may remain in that person’s conversation history or in a retained transaction or safety record.
3. What may remain, and why
Deletion must not make another person’s receipt, agreement or dispute unreliable. We may retain:
- transactions, payment status, references and receipt snapshots;
- signed and future lease versions, signatures, names, timestamps, consent and audit events;
- property and unit snapshots attached to a transaction;
- reports, disputes, evidence, support and moderation records;
- records needed for fraud prevention, legal compliance, claims or enforcement; and
- limited backups and security logs until their normal overwrite cycle ends.
Where possible, these records are separated from the active profile or show the account as deleted. A name captured in a signed agreement or payment may remain as part of that record.
Raw account-linked recommendation events are designed to be deleted or de-identified after no more than 90 days; anonymous aggregate statistics may remain.
4. Before you delete
- Save receipts and agreements you need.
- Resolve open payments, disputes, tours, notices or property requests where possible.
- Remove active listings.
- If Premium subscriptions become available and you subscribe, cancel the store subscription before deleting D8.
- Deletion may be irreversible; a new account will not restore the old history.
