Safety
A listing, badge, receipt or conversation is not proof of ownership or safety. Inspect the property, verify the people and check the documents.

Ask for identification and proof of ownership or authority. If an agent is involved, confirm the instruction independently with the owner.
The badge means D8 approved an identity or company authenticity review. It does not prove property ownership, authority to sell, title or document validity.
Use your own Nigerian property lawyer and appropriate surveyor. Inspect originals and check the land registry, survey, title chain, consents, encumbrances, probate or company authority, planning status, grant term and years remaining.
Confirm the rent or purchase price, deposit, service charge, agency or legal fee, recurring charges and due dates. Ask for unexplained amounts in writing.
For rent, use only the instructions generated for the accepted D8 rent transaction. D8 does not collect purchase money or hold sale funds in escrow. Arrange purchase payments only after independent legal and document checks.
Stop if someone demands a viewing fee, urgent deposit before inspection, gift card, cryptocurrency or payment to an unrelated account.
Visit in daylight where possible, tell someone where you are going, keep your phone charged and avoid carrying cash. Leave if you feel unsafe.
Check the names, property, unit, duration, price, fees, renewal, repairs, notices and move-in conditions. Get legal advice where needed and keep a copy.
Keep relevant messages, requests, agreements and receipts in D8. Never share passwords, one-time codes or full card details.
Pause if the price is implausibly low, the address changes, inspection is refused, documents do not match or you are pushed to pay immediately.
Confirm the requester and terms, protect tenant information, avoid unlawful discrimination and follow applicable rules for deposits, notices, entry, possession and eviction.
Report a listing or user from its page. For a completed rent transaction, use Dispute and attach clear, unaltered evidence. Support review is not a court ruling and cannot guarantee recovery.
Immediate risk
D8 support is not an emergency service. Contact the appropriate local emergency authority, move to a safe place, and then preserve relevant messages, references and documents for a report.
